Updated ChildCareStrongNC Public Health Toolkit

The Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) has updated the ChildCareStrongNC Public Health Toolkit to reflect changes in guidance, clarify language, and align with the  StrongSchoolsNC Public Health (K-12) Toolkit where possible.

The November edition of the ChildCareStrongNC Public Health Toolkit includes:

  • A What’s New in November section at the bottom of the Table of Contents, which identifies the changes in this edition of the Toolkit
  • The addition of a section explaining PPE, including information on the how and when PPE should be used, as well as the use of face shields in certain circumstances

  • Changes to cleaning and hygiene procedures for child care facilities, which includes updated cleaning and disinfection recommendations especially for the high-touch surfaces in child care facilities
  • Revised guidance on the screening and exclusion of individuals from child care facilities, including new screening forms and the option of using an attestation form when a child arrives at the child care facility on child care transportation.  Please note that if the child care facility elects to use a health attestation process for a child arriving to and departing from child care on child care transportation, the facility must create its own document which captures key elements.  Specifically, the health attestation form must state that parents are agreeing that they will not allow their child to ride the child care transportation or attend child care on any day that any of the following is true:
    • Within the last 14 days, their child has been within 6 feet for at least 15 cumulative minutes of someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19;
    • A health department representative or healthcare provider has been in contact with the parent and advised any member of household to self-quarantine;
    • Their child has a fever, chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, a new cough, OR a new loss of taste or smell; OR
    • Their child has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

If you have questions about these updates, please contact your child care health consultant.

What people are Saying about AACF

“Thank God you did this for us…”

Albemarle Alliance had a safety day and the fire department, police department, the Elks club and other sponsors were doing a carseat give away. This could not have come at a more perfect time. My man lost his job in April and was wrongfully denied unemployment while he looked for a job. My daughter turns 2 on the 22nd and desperately needed to upgrade her carseat. It's hard to do with NO MONEY. Thank God you did this for us and many other families. I'm gonna speak for everyone and say thank you to everyone involved. And a big thank you to Faith for informing our support group for my family's needs being met.

“…an Amazing program…”

I have been taking the incredible years program with Kathy and Jennifer, we are on week 9 I believe. I am so sad to know that we are half way done. It's an amazing program with wonderful teachers, they always remember what we (the class) have had issues with the previous week and ask, how it's coming along.  They give us amazing advice or ways to handle different situations. They make you think, which is good.

The group discussion have been a blessing as well, I have met amazing local parents who I can lean on for support.  I know we will be friends long after the program is over.

Thank you for the wonderful program and the teachers. I recommend anyone who is thinking about taking the program, should.  It's been so helpful! The way I parent my 2.5 year old and my 4 month old have completely changed (for the better).
