For Child Care Providers

What We Do

Providing child care can be both challenging and rewarding. Experiences during early childhood literally shape the structure of the brain. Because today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders, parents and workers, everyone has a stake in making sure that all children have the experiences they need to thrive.

Albemarle Alliance for Children and Families Child Care Resource and Referral is dedicated to supporting early care professionals by equipping them with the necessary tools to meet these challenges.

Benefits to Providers Include:

  • Referrals to parents seeking child care
  • Information and resources on starting a child care business
  • Modeling and demonstrations on-site at your child care business
  • Individual consultations and technical assistance to address your personal goals and needs
  • Information about licensing requirements and policy changes
  • Access to the resource lending libraries
  • A regional training calendar
  • Updated registration form

Health Consultants

Child Care Health Consultants (CCHCs ) are trained health professionals with education and experience in both child, community health, early care and education.  We work with programs to assess, plan and implement and evaluate strategies to achieve high quality, safe, healthy childcare environments.   Critical services are offered to the program and families by:

  • Providing health safety expertise
  • Develop strategies for inclusion of children with special health care needs.
  • Support early educators in managing injuries and infectious diseases.
  • Connect early educators and families to community health resources.
  • Provide up-to-date information, regulations and best practices.

Regional Specialist

Child Care Resource and Referral offers a behavior specialist, a school-age specialist and an infant/toddler specialist to help providers in Region 1, which includes Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.

Pam White is CCR&R’s regional behavior specialist. The goal of the behavior specialist is to provide support for early care providers who have concerns about negative behavior in their facility. Services of the behavior specialist include observations and recommendations to help teachers with specific behavior issues; ideas for creating an environment that minimizes behavior problems; assessments and evaluations of children and the development of behavior management plans. In addition, training workshops on a variety of behavior-related issues are provided at various times and locations throughout the 10-county region.

For more information or to schedule a consultation, call (252) 333-3205 or send an email to pwhite@albemarleacf.org.

Ella Brown is the CCR&R’s regional Infant Toddler Specialist.  She is available to help childcare providers serving infants and toddlers through on-site services including individualized consultation, targeted training, classroom focused mentoring and feedback, as well as resources and materials related to increasing the quality of care to infants and toddlers.  Infant Toddler consultation supports providers in implementing best practices for infant and toddler programs everyday and can help prepare centers for their rated license assessments.  The Infant Toddler Specialist also offers professional development for providers including ITS-SIDS.  For more information or to schedule a consultation, call (252) 333-3205 or email ebrown@albemarleacf.org

Professional Development

The Partnership’s professional development coordinator can help you plan and attain your professional development goals. She won’t do your homework, but she will help you select college-level coursework, register for classes, and find sources of financial aid.

Go online: While it is evident that getting an education is beneficial for child care providers, it can be difficult to find the time to attend classes. Online classes are a helpful alternative, as busy professionals can take classes according to their schedules.

Early childhood education courses, both online and traditional, are offered at the following area colleges:

What people are Saying about AACF

“Thank God you did this for us…”

Albemarle Alliance had a safety day and the fire department, police department, the Elks club and other sponsors were doing a carseat give away. This could not have come at a more perfect time. My man lost his job in April and was wrongfully denied unemployment while he looked for a job. My daughter turns 2 on the 22nd and desperately needed to upgrade her carseat. It's hard to do with NO MONEY. Thank God you did this for us and many other families. I'm gonna speak for everyone and say thank you to everyone involved. And a big thank you to Faith for informing our support group for my family's needs being met.

“…an Amazing program…”

I have been taking the incredible years program with Kathy and Jennifer, we are on week 9 I believe. I am so sad to know that we are half way done. It's an amazing program with wonderful teachers, they always remember what we (the class) have had issues with the previous week and ask, how it's coming along.  They give us amazing advice or ways to handle different situations. They make you think, which is good.

The group discussion have been a blessing as well, I have met amazing local parents who I can lean on for support.  I know we will be friends long after the program is over.

Thank you for the wonderful program and the teachers. I recommend anyone who is thinking about taking the program, should.  It's been so helpful! The way I parent my 2.5 year old and my 4 month old have completely changed (for the better).
